Rules & Regulations For Students

1. Discipline and Code of Conduct

  • Discipline is synonymous of Our tradition. Every care is taken to maintain an ideal discipline and to make it a primary part of our work culture. We believe that nothing sustentative can be achieved without a true spirit of discipline. In fact, our academic environment is nurtured on discipline. This happens to be the fore-most trait to enable us to impart quality education and to produce meritorious results. The entire code of conduct requires an absolute sense of obedience. However, any act of indiscipline, misconduct or irresponsible behavior will invite strict disciplinary action, including expulsion from the College.
  • Bringing mobile phones in college campus is strictly prohibited. If any student is found using mobile in campus then Rs. 500/= fine will be imposed.

2. Ragging

  • Ragging is strictly banned in the campus and even outside. The demon of ragging and the dread caused by it are kept far from the College Campus and by the students of the campus.
  • As Per the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s venerable decision vide their notification No.F.1-16/2007(CPP-II) dated 17th June, 2009.In this regard if a student is found indulged in the ragging by any means than an F.I.R.will be Lodged and the student will be expelled from the institute.

3. Attendance

  • Every student is required to attend all the lectures, tutorials, practicals and other prescribed curricular and co-curricular activities. The attendance can be condoned upto 25% on medical grounds or for other genuine reasons beyond the control of students by the Head of the Institution.
  • No student will be allowed to appear in the Examination if he/she does not satisfy the overall average attendance requirements.
  • The attendance shall be counted from the date of admission in the college or start of academic session whichever is later.
  • Mass bunk will be considered as grave misconduct and will count for disciplinary action.

4. Lab Instructions

  • An Attendance register of each Lab/Workshop has to be properly maintained.
  • Each student will sign in the register while entering and leaving the Lab or workshop.
  • Students are allowed to work on computer or in the Lab/Workshop during the time specified.
  • Mass bunk will be considered as grave misconduct and will count for disciplinary action.
  • Personal floppy/CD/ Pen drive may be allowed on permission from the Lab-In charge.
  • Computer Lab must not be misused.
  • Chemicals, gas and instruments should be handled with care. Any damage done will be recovered from the concerned student.
  • Students will have tool-kits, instrument box, drafter, laptop of their own.

5. Library Rules

  • Library card will be issued to all the students by the Librarian. Student will show the admission receipt in the Library to get library membership form. Filled up form will be submitted with the Librarian within three days after admission. Five color photographs should also be attached.
  • A student with a Library Card is entitled to draw maximum 3 books from the Library and is personally responsible for the books taken.
  • At a time the books will be issued for 7 days , delaying will cause a Fine of Rs.5/= per day per book.
  • Personal belongings are not allowed in the Library. They have to keep it at the prescribed place outside the library.
  • Strict discipline and absolute silence has to be maintained in the Library.
  • Use of mobile is strictly prohibited inside the Library.
  • In case the book is lost or tear or marked then the cost of the book will be beard by the particular student.

6. Notice Board

  • Students are advised to take note of all notices displayed on the Notice Board of their respective Department for information and compliance. Failure to read the notices displayed will not be accepted as an excuse for its non-compliance. Students must also visit the College Web-Site, www.svn.ac.in from time to time and take note of all the information and circulars.

7. Merits and Honors Certificates

  • The meritorious students with the highest marks will be honored.
  • An award will be given to the students who score more than 85% Marks in the University Exams.

8. Freeship /Scholarship

  • Fee Concession in Tuition Fee may be granted to a student if in any case he loses his or her parent/guardian because of untimely demise after admission to the College.
  • Fee Concession may be granted in case of a financial crunch in the family while taking into account the student’s caliber, career-consciousness and level as well as merit-prone aspiration.

9. Dress Code

  • Each student must follow the proper dress code and must wear the college I-Card. If any defaulter is found then Rs. 100 fine will be imposed
  • The Dress Code has also to be followed on all official occasions including Annual Functions, Placement related programmes, Special Lectures, etc. It is mandatory for all students to abide by the dress code on all such occasions.

10. Academics

  • Every student has to submit all the subject assignment given by the concern faculty members. Causality in submitting the said work will be considered as indiscipline and appropriate action may follow.
  • Appearing in the class tests, Sessional exams are mandatory, failing which the disciplinary action may follow.

11. HOSTEL RULES

        BEHAVIOUR AND DISCIPLINE
  • Hostlers are expected to display acceptable form of behavior, maintain discipline and decorum in the hostel complex.
  • Smoking is not allowed in the hostel complex at anytime
  • Possession, distribution and consumption of alcoholic beverages, prohibited drugs, chewable tobacco in the hostel complex is not allowed.
  • Parties, social or political gatherings in the hostel complex are not permitted without the prior and written consent of the Warden
  • Hostlers must return to the hostel by 09 PM in Summer and 7 PM in winter and are not allowed to leave the hostel before 6 am.
  • The Hostlers will be allowed to stay out of the hostel on submission of proper application duly authorized by parent and only if the permission granted in writing by the accommodation officer.
  • A hostel campus should be a place where students can have the best possible conditions for studying and adequate rest. As such due consideration must be accorded to other Hostlers at all times. Noise level must be kept low to allow other’s the opportunity to study or sleep in comfort. Television, Radio etc provided in the common room must be switched off or volume toned down after 10:00 pm. It is intended to ensure conducive environment for all Hostlers.
  • Vandalism is a very serious offence. Hostlers found guilty of committing such an offence can be evicted from the hostel.
  • In case of any unacceptable behavior by the room-mate, the other room-mate must report it to the college authorities
        UPKEEP OF THE HOSTEL
  • Hostlers are responsible for keeping their rooms and the common areas in the hostel such as visitor’s area, bathrooms, stair case, and common room etc clean and tidy at all times.
  • All fans, lights and electrical appliances must be switched off when not in use.
  • Cooking, making tea etc is not allowed in the hostel.
  • Common hostel furniture must not be moved without the permission of the Warden.
  • Any damage to the hostel property must be reported immediately to the Warden. Hostlers will be charged for all damages except damages caused by normal wear and tear.
  • Pasting of posters, writings, wall chalking, slogans of any kind or defacing the hostel in any form is not allowed.
  • The hostel management reserves the right to make spot checks on the hostel and rooms without having to give prior notice to the students.
  • Electricians, contractors or any other service person may enter rooms as and when necessary in the course of their duty under the directive of the Warden or appropriate authority.
  • However, every effort will be made to respect the privacy and dignity of the hostlers.
  • The hostel management reserves the right to move hostlers to other hostel units if there is a necessity.
        VISITORS
  • Visitors including parents are allowed only into the visitor’s area of the hostel during the visiting hours as follows
    Weekdays: (Monday-Friday) – 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm & 7:30 am to 8:30 am
    Weekend (Saturday, Sunday) and holidays- 7:30 am to 8:00 pm
  • All visitors must register at the guard house and provide all details and documents as requested by Security before entering the hostel complex. All visitors must leave the hostel complex by 8:00 pm.
  • Hostlers are not permitted to allow visitors of the opposite sex into rooms at any time for whatever reason. Any hostlers found violating this rule will be evicted from the hostel.
  • Non-Hostel students are prohibited in the hostel without the permission of Warden.
        SECURITY
  • Hostlers are required to carry their hostel card at all times in the compound of the hostel complex and produce it on demand by the hostel authorities.
  • Hostlers are advised to lock all doors at all times for security reason.
  • The hostel management is not responsible for any loss of private property. Hostlers are strongly advised to lock all your valuable e.g. mobile phones, laptop, watches, money etc at all times.
  • Hostlers are not permitted to change rooms or sleep anywhere other than their own room.
  • Any Hostlers, who find his /her room-mate missing for more than 24 hours, must report to the hostel Warden immediately. This will enable the hostel authorities to take immediate action.
  • Possessions, distribution and use of fire-arms, lethal weapons including air gun, contraband drugs, alcohol, toxic and hazardous material are strictly prohibited in the hostel. Keeping electric appliances such as T.V, VCR, heater, iron, oven etc in the rooms is also prohibited. Pets are not allowed in the hostel complex.
        LATE NIGHT PASSES
  • Hostlers should return to the hostel by the stipulated time. Occasionally due to unavoidable reasons, if the Hostlers expect to be late, he/she should obtain a late night pass from the Warden in advance and this pass must be produced to the security guard on returning to the hostel.
        EMERGENCY
  • In case of any emergency, please contact the security guards at the guard house or call hostel/college authorities. Important telephone numbers are provided with these guidelines?
        REVISION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS
  • The hostel management reserves the right to revise the rules and regulations from time to time and will keep the host elite informed of any changes in the form of notices on the hostel notice boards. Ignorance of rules will not be accepted as an excuse
